6 Fitness Equipment To Have For a Home Gym

Over the last year or so, the global Health pandemic has caused a majority of people to do everything from home.

Public gyms and other recreational areas have been closed due to overcrowding. Even though some dreams are still open, there are placed restrictions on their use and operation.

For some of us who are still not open to visiting public places, we would rather have our workout from home.

In this article, I’m going to center the topic on what necessary gym equipment you need to have to set up a home gym.

1.   Rolling ball

A rolling ball is commonly referred to as stability balls, an exercise ball or a Swiss ball or fit balls, or gym balls.

A rolling ball is a must-have for a home gym. This is because there are a lot of exercises you can do out of one simple piece of equipment.

It helps strengthen and relax your body. You can use it for core exercises that involve a lot of abdomen and backstretch.

It is also good for when you want to build muscles.

Some exercises you can do with a stability ball included forearm rollout, back sit-ups, ball squat,

2.   Stationary bicycle

A stationary bike is the type of device electric or not, that is used for cycling indoors.

The peddling is good for your legs and lower body. Continuous paddling strengthens your hamstrings and calves.

Apart from the cardio exercises you gain from cycling, you’re highly likely to experience various health benefits. Including; boosting your cardio health, boosting your immune system, weight loss, muscle gain, and many more.

3.   Resistance bands

Resistance bands are elastic bands (flat or tubular) that are used for strength training mobility and rehabilitation exercises among others.

The question of whether resistance bands usually work has always been there because this simple piece of equipment is linked to a huge increase in muscle mass.

Well, the science behind this is that with an increase in stretch-length, there is a subsequent increase in the tension of the band to resist that stretch.

The good thing about having resistance bands in your gym collection is that they serve a variety of exercises ranging from total body workout, legs, glutes, shoulders, chest, core, back, and arms.

For your legs, you may try the lateral walk, hip Bridge, and power squats. For the chest, you may try chest fly and banded push-ups. For a good arms workout in a bicep curl or reverse curl.

Another benefit of working out with resistance bands is that it helps increase muscle mass.

4.   Chest fly machine

Another gym equipment you can furnish your home gym with is the chest fly machine.

From the name itself, it targets to benefit the chest area. Particularly, the pectoralis muscles.

They work by you having to pull the levers together up until a point where your hands almost touch each other.

You don’t allow the labels to spread apart, and repeat the same a couple of times.

5.   Weights and bench

What is owning a home gym without having weights to lift?

If you want to choose the best weight for your home gym I prefer you go depending on the muscles you want to work for.

If you’re trying to build smaller muscles you will need smaller weights that complement that.

It is recommended that you have a variety of weights. Start with a 3-set; a lighter medium and heavy one. The pounds of the weight will depend on you.

Some of the exercises you can do with weight benches include lying tricep extension and triceps kickbacks that help build triceps.

6.   Yoga mat

A yoga mat is mostly used for comfort and to provide support while doing other types of exercises.

They help prevent your hands and feet from slipping or falling when doing your exercising.

If you’re into yoga and meditation then having a yoga mat will do you good.

Conclusion:

If getting all or some of this equipment seems financially hard for you, you may consider getting gym memberships. Gym charges are often not expensive; you can get coverage from your health insurance.

It is undoubtedly true that some insurance companies offer fitness extension coverage fees. While for some insurance companies they offer a percentage of discount for gym memberships.
